Uganda Martyrs Shrine, Namugongo
Where the Uganda Martyrs died in 1886 — a place of pilgrimage for millions each June.
The Catholic basilica and Anglican shrine stand a short distance apart. Most quiet through the year and extraordinary around Martyrs Day on 3 June, when pilgrims walk from across East Africa.
